Enhance Your Yard With These Suggestions:

For Sunny Yards

Charleston, SC is known for being sunny most days of the year. This is wonderful for us, but there are some plants that don’t do so well in full, direct sunlight all the time. If your yard gets a lot of sunlight, then you would probably want to check out the American Beautyberry, which has a magnificent color pop. For better ground cover, look at flowers such as Columbine. If you’re more interested in planting a tree, the Carolina Yellowwood does very well in steady sunlight, as well as the Dahoon Holly. But, for that real southern, Carolina touch, the Palmetto tree is always a popular addition to any sunny lawn!

For Shady Yards

Not every yard has access to a lot of sunlight, and that is okay! There are many plants that grow well in the shade and still look wonderful in your landscaped yard. We’re particularly fans of the Flame Azalea, which adds so much vibrant color to your yard. The Loblolly Bay is a simple plant, but still looks great and is easy to maintain. Standard impatiens are also some of the best flowers for shade. New Guinea impatiens are hybrids that can take more sun and are considered partial shade flowers if one particular area of your house receives sun during one portion of the day, but shade for the remainder. With so many options available, you don’t have to limit yourself to just one type of yard!
