Charleston, SC in the Winter:

The Weather

When it comes to the weather in Charleston, SC during the winter season, it’s amazing. Bright sunny days are usually what you will find here. The temperatures can range from low 60’s on warm days to the mid to low 40’s on our coldest days. For those of you from other parts of the country, that can be a warm welcome! Because of our fair weather, you will find many residents & visitors outside as much as possible. They are either strolling on the beach, at one of our many parks playing with their families or fur babies or taking a walking tour at one of our many landmarks such as the Firefly Distillery or at Magnolia Plantation.

Our Winter Festivals

While we may be known for our summer festivals, we don’t slow down in the winter either. Here are a few Charleston festivals that happen each year (if weather or circumstances allow):

Charleston Marathon—We in Charleston are an active bunch. Almost anywhere you go, you will see someone walking, biking, or running. This January, join your fellow runners for the Charleston Marathon. While on your course, you will get some of the best views of Charleston.

Lowcountry Oyster Festival—This festival is a staple in our community. Oyster season is heavily anticipated each year. The Lowcountry Oyster Festival is at Boone Hall Plantation at the end of January. Tens of thousands of oysters are steamed & shucked by locals. The shells are then recycled & help our local ecosystem.

SEWE—The Southeastern Wildlife Expo is every February in downtown Charleston. This is a great time here in Charleston. You will see hunting dogs, demonstrations, wildlife paintings, vendors, & more. This festival has been going on for decades & is beloved by our community.
